    Karnit Goldwasser, wife of captured Israeli soldier, to speak in Scottsdale

    The wife of a reserve Israeli soldier whose abduction sparked the 2006 Lebanon War will be speaking in Scottsdale this week.

    Karnit Goldwasser, whose husband Ehud "Udi" Goldwasser was captured by Hezbollah in July 2006, will be sharing her story at the Ina Levine Jewish Community Center, 12701 N.

    Scottsdale Road, on Thursday, Sept. 24. Her experience was detailed in her book, "The Path to You," which was published in Hebrew and released in 2011.

    "I hope that people who will come to hear me will go home and say that we didn't just listen to a unique story but we also know to deal with difficult situations," she said.

    Goldwasser was thrust into the public eye after her husband and Eldad Regev, another Israeli army reservist, were captured on July 12, 2006, along the Israel-Lebanon border.

    The abduction sparked a month-long war that claimed a combined 1,000 Israeli and Lebanese lives.
